Dear participants, most foreign citizens NEED TO OBTAIN A VISA TO ENTER THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION

Citizens of some countries do not require a visa to enter the Russian Federation:

Countries the citizens of which can travel to Russia without visas are divided into four groups with different requirements and different limitations on length of stay. Even if you do not need a visa to enter Russia, you will certainly need a passport valid for at least six months after the date of your proposed exit from Russia, and you may require other official documents. Also bear in mind that, even if you don't require a visa to enter Russia, you will still need to register with the Federal Migration Service upon arrival.

Group 1:
Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine.

Citizens of the countries of the CIS (the Commonwealth of Independent States) are permitted to stay in the Russian Federation for up to 90 days without a visa.

 Group 2:

Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Israel, Nicaragua, Peru, Venezuela.

Citizens of these countries are allowed to stay in the Russian Federation without a visa for up to 90 days in each 180-day period, provided they will not be involved in any commercial or work-related activities during their stay.

Group 3:

Cuba, Montenegro, Serbia (with biometric passport), Thailand, Hong Kong SAR (up to 14 days), Macao SAR.

Please note that citizens of Turkey no longer qualify for visa-free travel to Russia (starting January 1 2016).

Citizens of the countries in this group can stay in the Russian Federation for up to 30 days without a visa. They are not entitled to work while in Russia.

Group 4:

Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia.

Citizens of these Balkan countries can also stay in Russia without a visa for up to 30 days, but must also show tourist documents (tourist confirmation and tourist voucher) or an official invitation to immigration officials.

If you are not a citizen of one of the listed countries you will need to obtain an «ORDINARY HUMANITARIAN» visa, single-entry, the purpose is scientific-technical relations.

SPbU Events & Partnerships Department will provide you with an official letter of invitation.

The invitation itself doesn’t allow you to enter the Russian Federation.

This invitation is required to be provided in the Russian consulate or an online service (like www.kalinkaservice.it for Italy) to apply for the visa. Accompanying persons need Touristic Visa, which requires an invitation letter from the hotel.
The procedure is very long, so please act immediately!

Here are 7 steps to get a HUMANITARIAN visa to Russia :

Step 1 Download the visa support application: (Also the source files are available: .odt or .doc)

Step 2 - Fill in the required information

ICCSA 2019 Step 3 – Download the invoice, issued by ICCSA 2019 Electronic Submission System, and produce a Proof of the payment of your registration fee

Step 4 - Send four documents:

  1. Visa support application
  2. Scanned copy of your passport
  3. Invoice (proof of registration)
  4. Proof of payment of the registration fee

to the SPbU Events & Partnerships Department to the following e-mail: a.zadvornova  <at> spbu.ru with the copy to e.stankova <at> spbu.ru

Step 5 - SPbU Events & Partnerships Department will make the letter of invitation and send it to you by e-mail as pdf copy (or by post* in particular cases).

*If the original of the invitation letter is required, its delivery is organized at the participant’s expense.

The processing time for the invitation letter depends on your citizenship and may take from 2 to 6 weeks. SPbU Events & Partnerships Department will write you the exact date after checking your application form and passport.

The invitation will be written in Russian as it is addressed to the Russian Consulate in your country.

Step 6 - Applying for a visa, please, follow the instructions and recommendations on the website of the Russian Consulate in your country of residence. You will find there an electronic online application form for a visa, the time and cost of obtaining a visa, the visa department schedule.

Step 7 After receiving your official invitation, apply for a visa at the Russian Consulate in the country of residence.

PLEASE NOTE: 


- In order to obtain a visa
your passport must be valid for at least 6 months after the proposed date of visit.
- Humanitarian visa is given for the dates of the conference (plus 1-2 days before and after).

  • It is important to check what you need for humanitarian visa - an original invitation or you can use a scan copy.

  • If you already have a Russia tourist visa, it will be cancelled and humanitarian visa will be issued instead for the conference dates.

  • All accompanying persons should apply for a tourist visa, the invitation for the tourist visa can be obtained thought for hotel.
